The Consecration Of The Magickal Weapons

The magickal weapons are the stock in trade of the craft and all have uses and symbolism way beyond discussion here. The weapons are personal and sacred to an individual witch and everyone who would become a witch should gather their magickal weapons personally, if they can be made by hand, so much the better.

The Athame: (Pronouned "Ath-Ay-Me")This is the traditional black handled witch's knife, a weapon of Air
The Wand: This is a short wooden wand carved by hand, a weapon of Fire
The Cup/Cauldron: This is vessel or container, a weapon of Water
The Pentacle: This is the drawn or carved pentagram, a weapon of Earth

The Cords: These are 4.5 ft long and either red or white, The weapons of Spirit

Also: Incense (air or fire), Candles (fire or air), Bell (earth or air)

The weapons, once acquired by the witch must be consecrated to the service of the craft (for example my own athame is a dagger carved by hand which was given to me in Africa and which I have passed thrice through the King Stone at the Rollright stone circle on Samhain). Obviously the consecration of magickal weapons can be performed during an existing ritual negating the need for especially opening the circle. Note also that the watchtowers need not be called upon but, since the weapons are elementally based some may prefer to do so.

The consecration rite of the weapons is as follows:

Overiew:

Opening The Chakras

Casting The Circle

Once the circle is cast, the rite is performed for each weapon individually

The Purification & Consecration:

Holding the weapon over the altar and facing East:

I take and consecrate this [. . . . . . ]
In the name of the old ones, unto the Art Magick

Sprinkling it with a little water:

I purify thee with water

Holding it in the incense smoke:

I consecrate thee with fire

Holding the weapon up again, the following proclaimation is made:

I conjour thee, O form of this [. . . . . . ]
By the powers of life
That have created the heavens,
The earth and the seas
And all that they contain;
By the virtue of the heavens
And all the stars that rule therin;
By the virtues of the earth,
The stones and herbs
And the four elements
And by the virtues of the four winds of the air
Herin to receive such consecration
That I may obtain by thee
The perfect issue of my will.
I conjour thee to be defence and strength
Against all enemies, visible and invisible
In every work of magick.
So mote it Be!

The Use:

Holding the weapon carefully it is now breathed upon and power willed into it.

It must immediaitely be made use of even if the use is token such as drawing an invoking pentagram or such. I have found that choosing carefully the order of consecration allows each weapon to be used in the consecration of the next.
